We are a medium-sized firm that has 8-10 homes under construction at any time. Each home is a unique and personal reflection of our clients, and we thrive in the complex challenge we are given to build within the constraints of budgets and timelines, while maintaining the quality and sustainability that our reputation has been built upon.

Each project has a Project Manager, Superintendent, skilled laborers, and an onsite office. As well as all of this, we have a close relationship with the area’s most respected and talented architects and work together to bring your vision to life.

In 1982, Don Bender co-founded the company with the dream to create individual, architecturally driven homes. With this idea in mind, he led the company to dive headfirst into a marketplace that was starting to change and develop for people who wanted something higher end. He was one of the first people to break into the industry in the eighties, when the Pacific Northwest was still just starting to expand. Since then, the company has built over 400 homes, and is known and well-respected throughout the industry and the Pacific Northwest.

Right out of college, Don’s son Steve Bender started working in the office full time in 1998; by 2012 Steve and Don became partners. Don retired in 2018, and Steve became the sole owner of the company. In 2020, he took on Henry Wasenmiller, who had worked at the company alongside Steve for twenty years.

Bender Wasenmiller has seen a lot of change in our area, and the types of houses have changed since the inception of the company. The construction of today is ever-increasingly complicated in terms of complexity and design, and Bender Wasenmiller rises to meet every new project with years of experience and a continuous fresh perspective.
